Photographer, Andy Gotts was born in Norfolk and was a student at De Montfort University located in Leicester, England.
Andy Gotts MBE is a photographer based in London, England and New York, USA. Gotts is noted for his black and white portraits of Hollywood actors and singers.
Gotts is known for his bare-bones photography style ; preferring to work o clean , simply designed photo shoots. he chooses to capture public figures with as little pomp and public personality as possible so that he can do the job of bringing their personalities out in the photographs he captures.
For over 20 years! Gotts has been photographing celebrities, mainly in black and white but he somehow always finds a way to capture his photographs with imagination. He also has the ability to bring out an aspect of the character of the sitter/model.
Andy Gotts' life was in fact not going to plan until the release of his book;

The first ever actor Gotts photographed was Joss Ackland and then after he discovered the 6 degrees theory it led him to people like Dustin Hoffman who suggested, Brad Pitt who then suggested George Clooney, who suggested Julia Roberts, who then suggested Suisan Sarandon, who then suggested Paul Newman and so on.from then on, the only way was up for him. Andy Gotts has had access to the worlds most famous faces, over 100 A- list actors feature in his collection 'Degrees'.
A percentage form the sale of 'Degrees' was donated towards degrees project to raise funds and awareness for diabetes research.
in 2012 Andy was appointed MBE in the queens New years honours list.
Gotts watches old movies to see how they lit the actors or he sometimes looks at the work of Caravaggio or Rembrandt (both painters) and looks at the lighting they used and also everything around him influences him somehow.
He said it took him 25 years of very hard work to get to the position he is in today.
If i personally had to pick my top 5 favourite photographs taken by Andy Gotts they would would have to be these:
